My mom lives in Texas and I live in California... I recieved a call from my little sister ( who also lives in Tx ) on Saturday and she told me that my moms boyfriend beat her up. A few days before that, I told my sister something was wrong with our mom cause I had been having really bad dreams about her and I thought she should go see her! But my sister lives a lttle far from her and had to work. So when I heard this ( it had been almost 1 1/2 months since we both spoke to our mom) I got ahold of my mom and she said he choked her, gave her a black eyes, bruised her tailbone and skinned her knees up. He had been drinking and she called the police but he wasn't arrested. She won't leave cause she said she had no where else to go.... How do I get through this emotionally when I'm so far away and have no means of going to see her ( not that it would help cause I'd probibly hurt the jerk ) I can't stop stressing that I might get the call one day that she is dead! Please help me someone!!!!

you need to call your mother and yell at her...the only reason he wasn't arrested is because she got soft and told them not to press charges...I lived in TX, trust me when I say the cops left her house swearing...they wanted to take the jerk in.
there are tons of places for battered women to go, they are called domesic violence shelters, or she can stay with your other sister, even if it is only for a few days...
use the internet and find a shelter as close to your mom as possible, call them, tell them the situation and see if one of their counselors can call your mom....and explain what her options are.
So what if she has to start completely over - ask her if she'd rather be 6 feet under - or in a shelter - because those are her only two options....

She feels like she does not have a choice but to stay so you need to make her see that there is help if she wants out. You could make some calls or go on line to find shelters in her area that can help her to find the answers for her problem or just to talk. She has to feel alone and maybe if she had someone to talk to she would see that she needs to get out. If she can not go to you or your sister then she needs to find help and courage from someone that has gone through it also. She needs to face the facts if he beat her once then he will do it again. No woman should have to put up with abuse and hopefully she knows she deserves better. If she does not want to get away from him then nothing you say will change her mind. Let her know you are there and let her know that she can talk to you about it.

Your mother is a full grown adult. She chose this guy as a bf --- not husband, not fiance, a bf. She knew she was getting into a bad situation.
She could go to centers for battered women as a short term. If she had no job and no means of supporting herself, that's the reason she would break it off. She herself is addicted to the situation.
Unless you offer your place, just exactly who is in any position to help her?

Help your mom to find a place on her own. In the meantime find out where a shelter is for women like your mom. She need to leave asap. Maybe you can take her into your home and help her get a new start.

Your mom needs to go to a local or community shelter and get help and away from this insane man! She could be in major danger and i feel so bad for you...be strong..i wish the best for you , your sister, and mom.

I have no place to go,is a cry for help from your mom.why did you not bring her to your home?how do you get through this stress of worrying about your mom?rescue her.you or/and your sister help her,get her out,take care of her,you just broke her heart because she confessed all that happened to you,hoping you cared enough to offer help from your heart,not from her asking,she probably can't take the rejection of you and sis saying no,.so she told you the truth and hoped you cared enough to step up ,and here you are worried about YOUR stress level?she needs you more then ever.help her.sacrifice for her.I'm sure you don't know what she endured or sacrificed to keep you safe and be there for you.

If they didn't' arrest him it is because she refused to press charges against him. Can she not go to your little sisters home and stay with her. To be sure she could put her up for a few months, I mean after all, she did raise you girls. or maybe even you could find her a place out in Calif.

If she is not willing to leave there is really nothing you can do but keep the pressure on her to get out of there. Is there a way you can contact any close neighbors or friends who would be willing to call the police if they hear any fighting going on?
But all in all, if she isn't willing to stand up for herself all you can do is keep on her to get help and get out of there.

Your mother is the one who needs help more than you,so think how to help her.Don't know much about your situation,but how about you or your sister ask her to stay with you? Or seek for help and protection from officials,like protection order for your mom from that jerk.He could be dangerous,this kind of man will do it again,if they able to do so.I understand how you feel,but it;s not time to think how to "get through this emotionally",your mother needs help more!

the only solution for this is that she needs to get away of this situation as soon as possible or is going to get worst once a man hits a woman it means that there is not respect, is more of a control situation in the relationship, and is going to get worst if she stays, if you can not get her out of the situation there are shelters that she can go to and get away from this jerk
