I'd take curious connie's gift any day. The worst gift I've ever got was a teddy from Victoria Secrets.

Gift from a sweet but rather eccentric woman I clean for (she's in her mid 90's now): A used backscrubber and soapdish, complete with soap scum buildup!! OK...perhaps it wasn't such a rotten gift--once my co-worker and I left her home after cleaning it, we both laughed so hard we cried...and we still laugh about it today whenever it comes up around Christmas time!!

when i was seventeen, I graduate from high school and my parents had a party for me. I smoked but my parents had no clue. One of my mom friends gave me this brown ceramic owl ash tray. Wait it was not even ceramic. Ceramic would have costed more. It was like plaster paris. It was actually an insult. oh and it had chip marks in it. Obviously it was used and something she had dug out of the basement.

I guess if I have to select it would be the Reba MacInyre album. While she is a nice person, I cannot abide her song "stylings." What I did to resolve this was that I "loaned" it to a friend of mine, permenantly. That way, if the person who gave it to me ever asked me where it was, I could honestly say that, "I loaned it to a friend."

Years ago I was given a large cast iron skillet w/lid by my boyfriend for my birthday. I was hoping for something a little more personal. My family teased me for years.

These really funky (read ugly) appetizer spreaders. They had Christmas kittens on the end of them, and were bought secondhand.
I still have them, because I can't get rid of a gift :)

If some one is kind enough to give you a gift, wouldn't it be better to be greatful and just assume their taste doesn't match yours? A gift needn't be expensive to be thoughtfully chosen.

My aunt got me a foam rock once for Christmas. It was extremely dumb and I have had absolutely no use for it.
