In some western cultures, like the USA or the UK, and in Catholicism, the wedding ring is worn on the left hand.
In other countries such as Germany, Spain, India, Venezuela and Chile, Orthodox Christians (Greeks, Russians, etc.) opt to wear it on the right hand.
It really depends on what culture you come from and religion.

The ring finger on the left hand because it is supposed to have a direct flow of blood to the heart. The idea is that your love is closer to your heart this way. (Old wives tale???? Maybe, don't know, but like the idea anyway.)
