Today, I went to the mall. I keep seeing all these lil girls wearing stuff like tight spaghetti straps, halter tops, short skirts, and other stuff. Their parents need to be more protective of their kids(child predators!). Are they too young for those or is it just me? And why in the world are they wearing bikinis(kind of revealing ones for teenagers or young women) to the beach?! They are way too young! Am I over reacting? I apologize if I am.

I know, I feel the same way. I mean, I'm only 13 but I have strict parents who no longer allow me to wear shorts (they used to until I became a teen) and I am not allowed anywhere without an adult. I go to the mall and I saw 3 girls who looked about 8 (I'm not exaggerating either) walking by themselves, wearing short skirts, shirts, pounds of necklaces and accesories and sunglasses. They walked like strutting there hips out and they were all carrying Abercrombie and Fitch bags, thinking they were the shizznet. I mean, when I was 8, I didn't even know what a&F was, and they certainly had the bodies of an 8 year old, which I think is not made for the clothes at A&F. Like if I worked there and I saw these little not even in their tweens walking in, I'd fight the urge not to laugh because it's really rather funny when little girls try to act older then they are. I think they should stay innocent. I miss those times. :D

I respect your opinion, but I think you're over reacting. Especially when you say tight spaghetti straps, I mean, it is summer already and tight, well, if they're young and skinny, that's when they have to use the tight clothes. After you're old, it looks terrible to wear those kind of clothes. And honey, the beach is the beach, people don't go to the beach to be all covered up.
And just in case, I'm not a little girl.
I do see little girls at the mall that look probably waaay to revealing, but I don't think they look too revealing for their age. I think they look too revealing, period.

I think it may be a little bit a rush to grow up on the part of the girls and maybe the parents haven't really thought about it very much.
I don't think child predators will be any more or less attracted to little girls dressed provocatively as you have described--they would prey on children regardless. But this style of dressing can get these young ladies into a lot of trouble with a different sort of predator--little boys.
You are not overreacting. The parents are underreacting.

i have to agree with you. i have two girls, 5 and 2. I'm dreading the day that we are shopping and they bring me some tight, hoochie little thing. I'm hoping that i will teach them right about cute stylish clothes without being slutty.
Right now, I have 100percent of the clothes my girls wear. What money do they have?
You also have to think realistically.
Eventually, they can get jobs and buy most if not all their clothes. Sneak and borrow clothes from friends. I know i was guilty of that once or twice.
I just pray that i raise strong minded young ladies that don't feel that have to look like streetwalkers to be liked or popular.

I defonately agree with you, and no. You are not overreacting. A few days ago, I saw this report on this show about how some stores like Gap are selling babies clothes that say things like "flirt", and "sassy". First of all, who's the baby going to flirt with? And babies are not sassy! Actually, I just got back from Florida, and was so suprised. I saw girls that looked like they were 6 years or younger carrying expensive purses like Coach purses and Dooney & Bourke. What's up with that??? I mean, if you're some-what wealthy and you can afford those things, that's great, but little girls?? No, little girls are'nt meant to wear expensive, revealing, and slutty clothes like those. Oh, I also saw girls wearing booty shorts from Abercrombie and Hollister, and at the beach, I saw plenty of pants and shorts that said "sexy" and "cutie" across the but. I would'nt even wear that!!! Do they want people touching their buts and being, like, "Hey, you are sexy." or "Yeah, you are a cutie." I don't know why people are so drawn to wearing things like that, but seriously!!! You don't have to wear stuff like that to be cute or cool!!

I agree little girls should so not be wearing some of the stuff out there. I especially don't like the pants with words on the butt, I don't need my attention drawn to the behind of some 7yr old and if I ( a straight woman ) am looking you better believe any perverts out there are really looking

I know what you mean. I see 10 year olds at the mall in mini skirts and halter tops all the time, and it makes ME wonder what their parents are thinking too.

Blame Twilight. each little thing is Twilights fault; you call it - The Vampire Obsession, international Warming, conflict, Poverty etc etc. Vampires are genuine, of direction they are ^_^ yet little females between 8-12 years previous could comprehend that they do no longer glitter in photograph voltaic, they are unlikely to return and woo them into marriage and that Edward Cullen isn't the form of guy they want to be in a dating with. i think the Vampire craze will wash over ultimately, it is in basic terms a section? (: individually, whilst i became 8-12 i needed to be a Jedi xD

Heck no you're not over reacting. I have two daughters and honestly I would lock the door till they put something on and covered up!!
Unfortunately we are a world obsessed with fashion and now their pushing it onto our kids. It's just Wrong!! So, between me and you I'm sure we could make a radio show over the subject . = )
So to other parents that read this question and think she is over reacting...shame on you. Our children deserve better than too have ABDUCT ME written on their itsy bitsy teenie weenie little polka dot bikini!!
Thank you for reading my rant.

You're absolutely correct. Their childhood has been taken away from them and they go straight from about 6 to 18. They can look nice withougt dressing themselves up in low cut tops and push-up bras. I was only reading a Dolly magazine the other day, and it was like reading a Cosmo or Cleo magazine. no wonder they are like they are! it had tips on how to kiss properly and even a gyno-type section!
