Well, as I have said before, the reason that America is hated now is because there is no USSR. When there were two superpowers they hated them and loved us, now they have no else better to hate so they hate us.
This in no way implies I'm pro Soviet - I am not - but you have to admit the Russians were a better enemy than the terrorists we face now, they at least had a country to worry about getting blown up if they did anything we did not like - the terrorists are men without a country and actually are into the idea of getting blown up, so it makes it harder to not hit them.
I agree that unpaid Russian scientists have most likely been selling stuff on the black market too.

That's a novel approach that I've not seen before. Interesting.
However, I doubt if any one, single event, regardless of how important, can be assigned the total fault for the current world problems. It could certainly be a strong contributing factor - but there are so many other factors involved that any single event is probably only a part of the concerns.
For instance, the Middle East was a volatile region with or without the USSR or it's weapons.

I think that the USSR in general can be blamed for the world's problems right now. Spreading Communism throughout the world and creating tensions and conflicts between countries. Supplying weapons to those countries in the Warsaw Pact, which are still being used today. They either created or are partly responsible for many of the current international issues we have today.

These evils that you speak of would have gotten these weapons if the USSR was still around. North Korea would still be were they are, China would still be were they are, Iran would be were they are, and terrorist groups always figure out who to get weapons from. Russia is seen as weaker and less secure in your eyes, but not in Putins eyes.

YES. I believe that the collapse of the glorious Soviet Union is the cause of most of the world's problems. Her collapse caused US to be the only superpower in the world so there is not system of check and balance. Thus the US can play sheriff and make everyone dance according to their movement. Also, the unguarded nuclear bombs poses a problem but I believe its not a big problem compared to the threat the US poses.

The most current problems, those that have arose in the last 7 years, are the result of the action of the Bush Regieme. In general though, everything that has happened in the last 95 years can be blamed on Archduke Franz Ferdinand's driver making a wrong turn, which forced him to cross paths with Gavrilo Princip, his assassin.

Last I heard there was a couple of thousand pounds of weapons grade plutonium missing. The russians deny it is that much but are silent on the actual numbers - considering a lot of it is in former soviet union states it's not surprising.
My suspicion is some is on the market - or was. It doesn't mean we should panic.

One thing can't be blamed for "current world problems." The cause of today's issues are ignorance, selfishness, and apathy.
