I think it really depends on the Player.
In the 70's I think the Fearsome west Indian pace quartet had as much publicity as their batsmen if not more.
Lillee-Thommo duo were as popular as the Chappell Brothers.
Hadlee was the most famous NZ Cricketer..
Botham and Kapil's bowling were as popular as their batting...
The advent of helmets the fear factor is greatly reduced and hence the batsmen have the upper hand on the field...
Covering the wickets have helped it last longer without weather damage...
All factors which give advantage to the batter.
Would have loved to see an ad with Tendulkar ducking a bouncer... ducking below expectations
The truth is it is a batsman's game. But a stand out bowling performance still counts doesn't it.
A five-for and a 100 rank the same in my books. A 10 in a match a century in each innings.

There is definitely more value placed on batting than bowling. like someone above me said it is a batsmans game. Especially with the 50 over format and with the 20/20 games. It is about who can score the fastest.
There is nothing better than to watch a test match and the bowler is dominating the batsman, putting him under pressure and making him wonder about every ball.
Modern day cricket is about runscoring and less attention is given to the bowlers because they get hit all over the park. You will often find kids would rather become batsman than bowlers.
I dont know if you watch rugby or football but here is an example. The batsman is like the guy running with the ball to go score and the bowler is the guy that has to do the tackling. Now ask yourself which brings more excitement? The runner or the tackler?
I think also because of the fact that all players have to bat but not all have to bowl has raised the standard of batting. If you look at the allrounders of today. They will be more remembered for the runs they score than the wickets they take.

Because its easier to appreciate? For casual watchers, its easy to appreciate a straight six than a beautiful outswinger. Even if a bowler bowls six brilliant deliveries in an over without a wicket, how many people would UNDERSTAND? The ball may be so good that the batsman misses it by a foot. Only if you have played decent level, you will know.
How many people would bunk office to watch McGrath bowl?
For a casual viewer, would he rather watch Dravid or Afridi?
More importantly a batsman gets only one chance to bat while a bowler gets many deliveries to get him out. One mistake and innings is over. but bowler can bowl 10 bad deliveries and get a 5 wicket haul afterwards.

Because a lot of times this English sport is a reflection of life in fact. Parallels can be drawn how one person has to fare up against all odds of 11 people in some cases 12 (umpires) , a life threating situation some times (Brett Lee, Shoaib Akthar) and still come up trumps.
A bowler in a 6 ball over gets a second chance but a batsman who may not get one again except for test cricket where he sometimes gets 2 chances to bat.

Because cricket is turning to be a batsmen's game and people enjoy batsmen hitting fours and sixes and scoring centuries rather than bowler picking up wickets. However, good performance in bowling still gets recognition as S.K. Warne, M.Muralitharan, G.D. Mc Grath, Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, Wasim Aklram, Imran Khan, Courtney Walsh, Richard Hadlee etc. are still remembered by cricket lovers.

That is wrong. What you are saying is wrong and demeaning. Bowlers share as much limelight as batsmen if they are good enough to. Lasith Malinga, hes got pace, hes got fame. Sreesanth, him too. Irfan Pathan. Shaun Tait. Fast Bowling I'd say is the most fascinating aspect of the game and for me there is no greater joy then watching a fast, a genuinely fast that is- bowler in full flow. Someone who can bowl consistently at over 90 mph or 145 kph. Andrew Flintoff - without doubt the most famous of present day english cricketers, his bowling record is much better then his batting record so what is he famous for ?

that's no longer very honest. In cricket bowlers are as substantial because of the fact the batsmen. They too could desire to get their honest share of glory. regardless of the shown fact that that's frequently the batsmen who're hyped greater, and seem to be greater glamourous, maybe because of the fact the folk take exhilaration in watching batting greater. additionally, ODI and T20 cricket is basically ruled via batsmen, and now, further and extra persons tend to persist with the constrained over video games, somewhat of the classic suits. that's basically that the followers look greater satisfied to confirm their batsmen hitting sixes, than watching their bowlers taking wickets regardless of the shown fact that, that's no longer thoroughly genuine, because of the fact the main suitable bowlers of the worldwide have enjoyed and nevertheless enjoys a standing as super because of the fact the main suitable batsmen.

In my view, watching batting is more interesting than balling. So mostly the batsmans are crowd gatherer. Sanath Jaysuriya, Sahid Afridi and many more cricketers have won the name and fame because of their batting. And, to make runs is also very difficult. It is really hard to steal runs making oneself safe from 11 types of out.
