Recently we were invited to a friend's house. Their backyard pool is very private, but we were a little surprised when their kids (teens - two girls and a boy) simply peeled off their clothes and swam nude. They were obviously raised this way and thought nothing of it, but their parents didn't seem at all concerned that guests (us) were present. We didn't say a thing -- should we have? If so, what?

Don't get the impression that we disapproved -- we thought it was sweet and innocent; the kids were beautiful and without a hint of false modesty, yet very respectful to us. We were really surprised though, not just at the naked kids but about how well they got along with each other in a very intimate setting.

I think that there is nothing wrong with nudity and that you made the right chose about not saying anything. If the teens were comfortable with being naked infront of you then... there was no problem!!

I think that if I were you, I'd have been more than a little surprised with this situation, too- after all, they aren't "little kids" but teenagers. I'm not sure how I would've reacted in the same situation. If it makes you feel uncomfortable, it's o.k. to let the parents, who are your friends, know. Perhaps they should know! What they do in the privacy of their own back yard is one thing, but when there are people there (you) who are visiting, that's something else. Perhaps your friends should have thought to "warn you" first? They put you in an uncomfortable position, considering the circumstances.

Europeans are very comfortable with nudity. It's only in the US it's a problem. We have some clothing optional beaches & resorts in FL. There are families. Nudity is natural. Little kids will take their clothes off. Just accept it for what it is. It's not sexual.

If it makes you wonder, go ahead and ask your friends about it. Just make sure you ask in a non accusing, curious way.

Go with the flow. If the flow is running to fast for you, you can always gracefully exit.
