NOTE TO EVERYONE: WRITING SOMETHING AS A FUNCTION OF X MEANS THAT YOU WANT X TO BE THE INPUT VARIABLE. IT DOES NOT MEAN TO "SOLVE FOR X."
When you want something "as a function of x," it means that you solve for the other variable so that you can see how it varies with x. So, we need to solve for y. You may remember seeing things like
f(x) = x^2 - 3.
This would be a function of x.
... So, anyway, although EVERYONE else has gotten it wrong so far, here is the correct answer. We just need to solve for y:
4x – 2y = –6
==> subtract 4x from each side
– 2y = –4x –6
==> divide everything by -2
y = 2x + 3
So, your answer is y = 2x + 3, which could be written f(x) = 2x + 3.

EDIT: Thank God someone else knew what they were talking about. Good work, mathjoe.

x = one million/2y - 3/2 this equation is right i promise!!! illrun you thru it. 4x - 2y = -6 first upload 2y to the two components!!! then u have, 4x = 2y - 6 then you certainly could divide the two components by utilising 4 so as which you will get x on my own. now u have x = 2/4y - 6/4 yet you're able to simplify.

One can easily write 4x – 2y = – 6 as:
2y = 4x + 6 or y = 2x + 3 is dependent upon x or a function of
x. We write it as f(x).

This simply means to make x the subject
4x - 2y = -6
4x = -6 + 2y
x = -6/4 + 2y/4
x = -3/2 + y/2
