Well, i went to the Orthopedic Surgeon on Friday and he had like 100 patients waiting, so he went really quick, and I couldn't ask too many questions. He said my hips are actually SHAPED wrong, and it's a genetic thing. It has been so painful lately, I can barely do anything. If it's genetic, why is it so bad now [ps im 15 years old]?

Thanks for all of the great responses so far, and to clear things up, I am currently seeing a Physical Therapist. The ortho guy also said that they were "tilted", or something to that effect.

Without more specifics, it's hard to tell what specific diagnosis the doctor made, but some people are simply born with slightly different bone structures than the average person. It is possible that the bones are misaligned, causing one leg to be shorter than the other overall or slightly outward turning (or inward). If the legs are not balanced well, it means your brain will tell your muscles and ligaments to make up for it, and you could easily go for many years without a problem, until the constant strain of maintaining balance is too much for your leg and hip muscles to deal with (or if you start exercising regularly, that might put extra strain on them) and that can lead to back/spine/hip injury. Best thing to do is to leave a message to see if the doctor or the doctor's nurse can call you back when they have a minute and talk to you about the diagnosis, and what your options are.

Hi Nevada. Clearly the orthopedic surgeon wasn't interested in you or your condition. Have you seen your family Chiropractor about your problem? Chiropractors are specialists in treating mechanical problems affecting the bones and joints, including problems that may have a genetic component.

Best wishes and good luck.

See another Dr. first. Politely tell him/her about the "brush off" you felt by the previous Doc and want more information and assurance.
Maybe it is just "growing pains", a temporary condition where some of your body grows disproportionately to another part. Hopefully this will work itself out naturally.

I think that you might want to consider switching to a different doctor that will take the time to address all of his concerns regardless of how many patients are in the waiting room.
