The odometer is turned by a little motor which meshes little plastic gears to turn the odometer. I have seen the little white plastic gears break in the center and stop working. Your best best is to purchase a new cluster out of a junk yard (for around $40) and get it replaced. I believe 91-93 are the same, but don't quote me on that. They added the tach in 94, so it is different. You can then seperate the clusters and replace the broken parts, or just replace the old cluster with the new one since the milage is going to be off anyway.

You can't do anything but replace the cluster. These are all driven by a little motor inside the cluster and the cluster is not serviceable. Lots of trucks at the junk yard and this is not a common item that breaks so go have a look if you want a cheap way to fix it. For my money though, why do you care if the odometer works? It's an old truck and if you don't want to buy a new one, why would you care to count the miles on it.

The gauge cluster for 1992 and 1993 were pretty much the same, and totally different than the one in your 1991. In those years, (1992-1993), the tachometer was optional.

With out buying a new one opening it and fixing it would be less dificult than fixing a windup watch but more difficult than a coo-coo clock. I say heck give it a try The spring most likely g=broke with age. But if you do fixx it then you have bragging writes. I'd just rplace it and tell everyone yep 0miles.haha

I had a 1999. Did the comparable element. whilst the forks turn too lots to the two area, the speedometer quits . turn the bike off and then returned on and it works returned till the subsequent time. I in simple terms traded for a softtail.
