Have you ever read Issac Asimov? He's dead now, but he had written some great scifi short stories and books. My favorite one was the one about the cotton candy people. Usually folks who like fantasy like sci fi also.

Here are my current favorites:

Scott Westerfeld's trilogy-Uglies, Pretties and Specials
science fiction (sort of) about a possible future; at 16 you have an operation and become a Pretty. Your only job? Have fun! But what do they do to your insides?

Also, just finished The Last Days, which is the sequel to Peeps by Westerfeld. Here you're talking modern day vampires. Enjoyed these two as well.

Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy. Wow. Fantasy taking place on so many planes-interesting characters and great descriptions.

I haven't read them yet, but Maximum Ride books by James Patterson are getting terrific reviews.

Well I hope you've read Tolkien if you like fantasy. Otherwise, the Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series by Tad Williams is the best I've read. Also, the A Storm of Ice and FIre series by George R.R. Martin is pretty great. These are serious, mature fantasy novels and really worth reading.

I think that the Gunslinger series by Stephen King is actually really good fantasy.
