I like to take my time & enjoy it. My wife & I got married during a road trip. Sometimes you have to hurry though. There was a time when I had 1 week vacation and spent 3 days of it trying to get a new fuel pump in Vinita, OK. We were driving from Chicago to Phoenix.

Sometimes there are reasons to rush, and some people can't relax unless they have a planned itinerary, but I think it's kind of nice to be able to relax and enjoy the places of interest along the way. Granted, you don't want to spend so much time doing that that you have no time left once you reach your destination.
My next mini-vacation will be to Lake Tahoe. I just hope the fire that's burning there now will be controlled soon, before more damage is done and that the ash from it won't distort the color or clarity of that beautiful lake.
I'm planning to go to Alaska again on my next real vacation. I love it and have family there, so I'm hoping to make the trip within a year.

I want to relax. Stop often, visit any tourist spots along the way. Nice lunch. Stop whenever I'm ready, at the first nice looking motel that has a vacancy.
Husband plans out how long it will take to get from point A to point B. He will stop only to use the bathroom, and short meal breaks. He always has a motel room reserved, and will drive thru heavy downpours for hours, just to get to the motel room on time.
He wants to tour the east coast next year. Won't be a lot of fun. One time, I wouldn't let him plan ahead. Every day, he complained because I wanted to stop too much. Every day, he worried that we wouldn't be able to find a room at night. I went out there a few years ago with my kid, and we just meandered where we wanted. That was a fun trip.

I am not a big fan of driving any where. I get so bored and I really hate sitting and doing nothing. I do like to stop alot during the trip but I hate that it makes the whole drive all that much longer. I must say I am dreading the drive but for summer holidays that family is driving to a cottage along one of the great lakes. Not exactly sure which one.

I'm taking a road trip to LA this summer, I think I'll hurry 'cause I'm taking three girls that will give me hell if I don't take them to Disneyland soon enough.
