My friend is going to Finland next week and I want to ask her to bring me back something interesting or popular in Finland. Anyone know what they got there?

Hi Ally,

Finnish glass products, knives of all descriptions (including Swiss army knives) jewelry, hats, furs, leather goods and other collectible items are plentiful.

Finnish hand woven rugs are an excellent buy and are designed as wall hangings rather than to be actually used as rugs. There are a number of furniture stores that sell both modern Finnish furniture and antiques from Finland and Russia.

The best souvenirs are decorations made from reindeer skin, baskets, dolls and berry liqueurs made from cranberries, brambleberries and cloudberries.

There are more shopping opportunities than one can possibly do in a single day.

Finland has beautiful design products from glassware to Marimekko clothes (even Jackie Kennedy bought Marimekko in the 60´s). Of course reindeer skins are good souvenirs, but perhaps a little bit too heavy to take home. Finnish chocolate is very tasty and at least famous in Europe. Your friend will find out when coming here what to bring back to you as a souvenir. I wish her a nice visit in Finland.
(Just one thing, we don´t have wooden Russian things, one has to travel to Russia to get those.)
