Lieutenant Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department reported to ABC News that it was being investigated as a double murder-suicide, saying that over the weekend of June 23-24, Benoit allegedly killed his wife and son, then on Monday, June 25, killed himself.[84] and the police were not searching for any suspects outside of the house, as the instruments of death were located on scene.

He, his wife, and his daughter were found dead at their Atlanta area home. Police are investigating it as a homicide.
