How do you really know that your vote counts?

Why should we bother with voting and picking a candidate.

That is an awesome question!

I think we should keep a back up copy of our vote and have a way to double / triple check that our vote went to the candidate we actually voted for. Some system of checks and balances that WE participate in.

The system now is completely rigged and fraudulent in many cases.

"Computer programmer Clinton Curtis testified at the December 13th, 2004 Congressional hearing in Columbus, Ohio naming Republican Congressman Tom Feeney as the person who hired him to prepare vote-rigging software."

Vote Fraud did not start in Florida in 2000

It's probably been since 1956 that we had a presidential election whose outcome wasn't determined in advance

1960: both sides tampered with votes in Illinois.

1964: the election was tampered with by the coup in Dallas (1963/11/22).

1968: the election was tampered with by the killings of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King, and by Nixon's sabotage of the Vietnam peace negotiations.

1972: the Watergate scandal damaged democracy.

1976: the Carter campaign was in part an effort of the "Trilateral Commission" (a quasi-official transnational entity of elites).

1980: Carter's "Friendly Fascism" was sabotaged by the "October Surprise". ("On October 19, 1980, Bush was dealing with Khomeini") In most countries, that would have been called a coup d'etat.

1984: Reagan's re-election campaign was a "cake walk" over Mondale.

1988: Dukakis appeared to get "cold feet" (understandable) and chose to stay silent about Bush's crimes as Vice President. Iran-Contra and the October Surprise were not part of the campaign issues.

1992: Clinton was clearly the elite's choice. Clinton put the happy face on fascism and got a lot of the Reagan-Bush agenda passed -- NAFTA, GATT, WTO, gutting health, safety and environmental laws, abolition of welfare, doubling prison complex, etc. "Homeland Security" was started toward the end of Clinton's second term (around the time of the phony impeachment). Clinton had been involved in Iran-Contra while governor of Arkansas (much of the cocaine used to fund the contra war was flown into Mena, Ark.), and therefore was compromised and couldn't prosecute Bush for his crimes. See the book "Barry and the Boys" by former NBC investigative journalist Daniel Hopsicker for more on this (www.barryandtheboys.com)

1996: Dole seemed to understand that his campaign was a token gesture - entertaining for him (and profitable), but not a serious effort to defeat Clinton.

2000: the whole world saw George W. Bush was not actually the winner. While vote fraud was not limited to Florida, that state became famous as the center for the election tampering.

2002: several elections - especially the Georgia Senate and Governor races - were flipped by electronic ballot machines. The plane crash of Senator Wellstone also was a factor in the shift of the Senate to the Republicans.

2004: Kerry won the election, but electronic ballot machines and voter suppression flipped several states in the Electoral College and shifted a few million votes to Bush.

2006: vote fraud was present in many Congressional races, but not enough to prevent the Democrats from taking both houses of Congress

I vote only because I have friends in the government and it's showing I am a " good " citizen if I vote { there are other reasons I vote but can't say here } anyway yes the voting is rigged there's no question about it , as a man once said follow the money and when you do you see that all parties { including independents } are funded by the same people . Anyway the President in reality is only a figure head , he is controlled and guided , its worked this way for years and years . To think the man is voted on is laughable , just ask yourself how did Hilary get 29 million dollars in less then 6 months ? Well it sure wasn't the American people , so who was it ? A hint : They control the money .

Good question. The only way to know would be to be everywhere at once. That's why conspiracy theories last so long and spread so well. Most people never think about the fact that proving something like this is impossible.

Three alternatives:
Spread seditious comments about the government and try to undermine it, whether it is just or not;
Leave, whether it is a just system or not;
Fight for the system we have created and demonstrate publicly. Show others what it is to be an American so that when they man the voting booths, when they count the vote, when they tally it and deliver it, they feel pride and joy at being part of a Great Experiment called America, and nothing but shame at the thought of betraying that trust. Fight for stiff laws for voter fraud, and insist on I.D.s so that people can't vote twice, or vote from two residences, or vote if they are here illegally, etc.

Fight for what you believe in, or cave in to what you fear.

Simple choice.

You stay home & read the next day who we elected.
There is no way to rig an election other than to convince people to stay home & not vote. Apathy can keep Americans from making their vote count & that is the only way. I have voted in every election since 1973 - yes, 34 years of voting.
Votes are guarded so closely that it is ridiculous. I have served as an observer in my poll for over 20 years. The election employees watch what is happening while making sure no one attempts to tamper with the voting machines or try to campaign in precinct. At the end of voting the boxes are pulled already sealed & then placed into a secong box.
No person is ever alone with ballots or machines.

Just because the canidate you did not vote for didn't win, it does not mean it is rigged. I have had years of horrible presidents that I did not vote for Jimmy Carter & Clinton - twice (impeached adulterer). I disagreed with most of the voters those years. Some years I agree.

FYI - the Electoral College votes are based on who won the popular vote of those states - otherwise heaven forbid CA & NY would elect every president. Large population in those states would negate all the other states.

Can you prove the Presidential Voting system IS rigged? See you can't can you? I don't care if my vote counts or not, because if you DON'T vote then you have no right to complain. So by voting I have that RIGHT and if that is all it really accomplished then that is good for me.

As an election inspector, I can tell you that the voting systems aren't rigged. We are the people who work at the polls, guaranteeing that things are done legally, privately, and with integrity. You can be sure your vote does count. Each voting site is manned by workers from both parties, to ensure no one is cheating. In addition, the poll workers are not allowed to campaign for an issue or candidate, and we have training and are overseen by outside groups in highly contested elections. Also, you recieve a ballot that has a number, in addition to an application to vote. This is then checked twice to ensure you are legally able to vote. Once you have filled in your ballot, the number is pulled off and your votes are counted anonymously. At the end of the day, we seal the ballots and the computer vote cartridge with metal tags, which make tampering with the votes virtually impossible. Every step along the way is double checked and triple checked by honest good hearted people who take a vow to uphold and protect the constitution and maintain the integrity of the polls. If you want to know for yourself, ask your county or city clerk to explain it to you.

The simple rule of: "The law of large numbers" should give you ease of mind that it is not rigged. When there are over 100 million votes, the rigging of the system is impossible. At the district and smallest local level all types of corruption is possible, probable, and even factual. But, when you add in the tens of thousands of local voting units, and the 100+ million votes tallied, what happens in one district in Ohio is offset by a district in Maryland, etc.......... The election is not rigged, but the misplaced passion of those that have lost has them seeing monsters behind the computer, goblins in every voting booth, and a conspiracy behind every politician they didn't want elected.

We don't. It is rigged to a point. The Florida 2000 election was a joke. They pulled so many stunts.

Dems have done similar things however. Chicago....1960....when dead people voted.
