Have you guys seen the July 2007 Issue of Vanity Fair? If not, check it out! Its incredible..

Do you think you know who you are? Maybe Irish, Italian, Jewish, Chinese, or one of the dozens of other hyphenated Americans that make up the United States melting pot? Think deeper—beyond the past few hundred years. Back beyond genealogy, where everyone loses track of his or her ancestry—back in that dark, mysterious realm we call prehistory. What if I told you every single person in America—every single person on earth—is African? With a small scrape of cells from the inside of anyone's cheek, the science of genetics can even prove it.

@ Setmefree, no its definitely saying everyone is African/Black. Its just living in the colder areas caused Africans skin color/ hair to change.

@ Trashcat, its scientifically proven and there are plenty of people who don't feel good about it. DNA testing proves it absolutely.

@ Musicxlife,
Apparently this is very widely known information throughout the Scientific community and they definitely determine that everyone was black.
Its hard to swallow because we have been told unproven info for so long.

Now all Africans arent Black, but All africans were Black. Of course there are white South Africans, and the Middle East and Africa have intermingled. Ie a huge Muslim boom, but original Africa was Black. With modern science and DNA testing, fossil testing, finding bodies still intact, like Lucy, it is proven. And Anthropologist Tim White proved it as well.

And that is a proven fact, unfortunately there are many that do not want to accept the fact that we were all black at one time.

I'm so glad someone is spreading the truth, that we all have African ancestors. Thank you!
EDIT:
Since x_musicxlife_x brought up the issue of skin color I will elaborate. I don't think that the first humans had dark complected skin. Humans didn't shed their hair when they first evolved from apes. Later, a little more than three million years ago, humans closely resembled the chimpanzee. The chimpanzee has light skin and pink hands and feet (which only darken as they grow older and are exposed to the sun over time). As they (humans) shed their hair, their skin darkened to cope with the environment (and other factors, of course). (The molecular structure of melanin was modified.) Don't misunderstand, I am not jumping on some sort of racist bandwaggon. Humanity did originate in Africa. And, as I said, we all have the same African ancestors. I am merely talking about one step in the evolutionary process.

I didn't bother reading the article because I hate reading, but in pre-history, there was no black white brown yellow bullshit, there were just neanderthals or whatever the f@#k they are called. They were probably just based in Africa, but their Nomadic tendencies brought them to other parts of the land mass, which soon broke up into the now-existing continents. So they probably weren't black, but African by technicality, even though Africa was just an area in a giant land mass back then.

I couldn't read the article because I'm at work and the site is blocked, but this is something I kind of already knew. If you ever had a history class and actually paid attention to how the first known people were in Africa and then migrated else where....this concept is not surprising at all.

well...that article doesnt say that everyones DNA traces back to everyone being a little black. it says it traces back to africa...there could have been some white people in africa already, so some people may not have black in them, they may have african ancestors, but they would be white african ancestors. if they are from africa, they are african. whether they are black or white. but if that article was talking about the african race, then that is quite interesting, but i dont know if it was talking about the african race, or just their ancestors being in africa. cuz some peoples ancestors who were in africa, could have been white.
ADD: oh...well okay. i just didn't know if it was talking about the people being african or actually being the black race. if everyone is the black race, that's kinda, cool. lol it was a surprise.

Interesting and I'm glad VF included this article in their Africa issue. I knew this already and it surprised me to now this back then. PBS aired a very interested 3 or 2 part series on this same topic and it taught me a lot.

Africa is just a land mass (especially at that time the land was different shaped), just because people lived on that land mass, doesnt mean they were black.
btw , neanderthals arent the same thing as humans. the ancient eskimos said that they were bigger and stronger than humans but they were easily scared off. later on they were wiped out from diseases and viruses.

Well this may prove that everyone has African ancestry, but you're wrong when you say "Everyone is Black"... not all Africans are black, dear. All this article proves is that we are human and need to drop the labels.
