no big deal. I really think you have absolutely nothing to worry about at all. the question more is -- is it bothering him or is it just bothering you? did he get hiccups when you were pregnant? Many babies get hiccups in utero and then you can recognize it all once they are born. I never heard of hiccups doing any harm and they certainly are not a sign that anything is wrong at all. You could certainly call the doc in the a.m. just to see if they ahve a suggestion for how to get rid of them but, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't. Maybe try burping him and hope that the rhythm of patting him on the back will help overcome the hiccups? Or does it go away while he's eating? Anyway -- don't worry. get some sleep. it is harmless. ood luck and congratulations!

Hiccups are normal, I just did not know a week old baby would get it. I would just say always call the pediatrician whenever you feel uncomfoartable about something about your baby. Mom's have an instict. You do not want to take any chances with your baby - you know they do not come with instructions. Some people would say, oh you are being obverly cautios. I say, no, you are being a good mother. I would rather bring my baby to the doctor for nothing as oposed to not bringing the baby when I should have.

Very normal, don't worry!! My son is 1 and he still gets the hiccups quite often, a nurse once told me to keep the baby nursing through hiccups and it might help.

Don't worry. Babies often get hiccups my 16 month old had them every night while i carried him and after he was born he continued to have them regularly...pretty much several times every day. They don't hurt the baby at all though, the only thing i can suggest is burbing him a lil more frequently to help him get them less. Once he has them maybe giving him a lil drink would help.

Hiccups shouldn't be anything to worry about (if it makes you feel better though, check with your pediatrician). Gently hold him with his head resting on your shoulder, and rub or lightly pat his back, just as you would to burp him. He may have some gas causing the hiccups, or he may just be getting too much air when he eats. Best of luck and congratulations!

Oh mommy, it's okay. Baby's have very sensitive diaphragms, and are very prone to hiccups. Frequent burpings during feedings may help, and if you are bottle feeding, try to avoid over-feeding him. Swaddling may help also. It's a stage he'll grow out of soon. My daughter used to get hiccups and SPIT UP nearly every time I nursed her-I'd just sit and cry, worrying she'd throw up all of the breast milk and I'd have nothing left to feed her. It lasted a couple of weeks then she was fine.

consider your self lucky the little guy didn't have them when he was inside of you. That is the strangest and at times painful experience during pregnancy. I know nothing that I gave my daughter really helped it is something that you just have to ride out. I really think it is more disturbing for the parent than the child. I think my little girl was about 4 months when they really were not as bad. Now if she gets to excited even now she will start up with them for a little while. Just hang in there He will be OK!!!

Hun, do not worry. Hiccups are completely normal for newborns. They do not cause him any pain or discomfort at all. Try giving him some formula or breast milk, or a pacifier if they bother you. Congrats! Enjoy him, because they really grow up too fast!

Don't worry, hiccups are very normal!! Gripe water works wonders for hiccups. Just ask your doctor or pharmacist for proper dosage if you are nervous about it.
Good luck!

We hiccup because we have air trapped in our lungs or diaphram. Have you tried burping him. I'm sure you have but that is the only thing i could think of. I would worry to much over it. He will be fine.
