I agree with everyone who said it's a beautiful name because it is. I know a few Keira's so I'm sure she won't have to worry about correcting people. It's a cute and easy name. I love it. You won't have anything to worry about though... so don't worry...

Honestly, I think this name is difficult because of all of the different pronounciations and variations. Theres Ciara, Ciera, Kira, Kyra, Cira, Cyra, and a hundred other ways to say and spell it.
I say Keira as KEY-rah, thats how its said in my area. If you want the KEY-ah-rah pronounciation, I'm afraid you are just going to have to correct people over and over. Its goes with the territory.
Also, just a hint, some people actually prefer one pronounciation over the other, and there really is no "correct way". Don't be offended when people pronounce it differently than you do. Its an old Irish name, so they've had some trouble trying to anglicize it. If you check the link, they have both pronounciations as "correct" ones.
I do think she's going to have trouble pronouncing it the way you want for the rest of her life, but I don't think you should worry. Once you tell people, they've likely remember for the future, she just may have trouble on the first day of school.
Don't worry. Both pronounciations are beautiful, and its a very pretty name. Also, in my accent, they sound very similar, so don't worry too much. Just enjoy your new baby girl!

So she'll have to correct some people. It is just lovely! Don't yo waste your energy with worry. My frien is Beth White and people often call her Betty White. She's always correcting people. Even the most common name can be messed up.
Enjoy K-ee-r-ah.

I think it's a beautiful name, it was actually my choice if we had a girl (but we had a boy) I would pronounce it KEE-AIR-A but a bit smoother in actually saying it. I do think you're overreacting though, as long as you are a happy with her name, it shouldn't matter. My room mate at the hospital had her son the same day as mine, and she asked my son's name and I told her it was Aaron, then I asked hers and she said my sons name is Anochie and I was like what? but then she told me, his father named him and it means "When I'm no longer here, my son will take my place" and I was like that's deep, but the point is that a name is something that there gonna carry for the rest of there lives and you shouldn't care what others think as long as it means something to you. Hope that helps.
