Because the flavor is heavier than the ice and goes to the bottom where you put your straw and greedily slurp it up. Dang! That got me kinda excited!

Because gravity takes all the syrup to the bottom and that's where the straw is. Leaving all the crushed ice above.

they are mostly water (frozen ice) and little syrup. That is how you get the big gulp so cheap.
