I was watching an interview with Fred Thompson, and I heard something that was really interesting: If we didn't go over to Iraq, the Middle-East would be more a more dangerous place now. The reason being, Iran is trying to build a nuclear weapon. Iran and Iraq were never friends and even went to war with each other.

With Iran building nuclear weapons, Saddam would be compelled to make nuclear weapons of his own. This would be just like the conflict between India and Pakistan, only both leaders have shown that they are not afraid to take someones life.

Don't get me wrong, the situation in Iraq is really bad right now, but could two insane Islamic country leaders that have nuclear weapons be any better? The president of Iran has said he is going to blow Israel off the face of the map, and Saddam had killed tons of his own people. I think nuclear weapons in the hands of those maniacs would be a whole lot worse...but that is just my opinion.

What do you think?

They are trying to build a bomb:

Anywho, you have to read most of the articles to see that Iran is really close to making the bomb. All the articles say that they (Iran) pretty much have all the materials to make the bomb. And, the fact that they are threatening the complete destruction of Israel kind of hints towards Iran and their need for a bomb.

-RKO-: We used our nukes in WWII to save thousands of American lives. And, since then, we haven't threatened to blow a country off the face of the earth...like the president of Iran has threatened to Israel.

I think all nuclear weapons should be dismantled. And Bush did not kill anyone. He led us into a war that took place so others could be free.

brainstorm: I am not Jewish. I think Israel has the right to be a nation. Israel is not involved in ethnic cleansing. Here is an excerpt from the Koran which will show why Muslims hate Jews and Christians:

Fight unbelievers who are near to you. 9:123

O believers, take not Jews and Christians as friends; they are friends of each other. Those of you who make them his friends is one of them. God does not guide an unjust people. - 5:54

They are commanded by their God to kill all infidels (those who don't submit to the laws of Islam). Israel has a right to defend itself.

Sky, I think it is you who needs a history lesson...

You say Iran isn't building nuclear weapons, yet in the links I posted above, they all say the same thing: Iran has all the materials it needs to build a nuclear bomb. Iran has 'secret' nuclear compounds that he is enriching his uranium in...If he is just making energy, why would he make it in 'secret' compounds?

We did find WMDs in Iraq: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,200499,00.html

You say Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not going to blow up Israel himself, yet he says things like this:

"Anybody who recognizes Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation's fury, [while] any [Islamic leader] who recognizes the Zionist regime means he is acknowledging the surrender and defeat of the Islamic world."

They are at war with anyone who doesn't submit to their laws...Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Israel must be wiped off the face of the map, he is also enriching uranium...one of the most important things you do when you build a bomb.

According to these people, Saddam was making WMDs of his own:

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
- President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

You say: But Thompson doesn't know anymore about the true state of Iraq had we NOT invaded illegally.

Did you even read the question?! The state of Iraq now could never build a bomb. The state of Iraq before we invaded...oh, what is this 'invaded illegally'? We invaded Iraq to free a people of an evil dictator and to find WMDs...oh we did find them (read the link I sent you above)...anywho, the state of Iraq before we invaded would feel compelled to make the bomb because Iran has one. Kind of like what happened between India and Pakistan.

You also say: there was no hatred of the US anywhere in the region. No Iran flexing its muscles at the US.

Do you recall the Iranian hostage situation? Ya know the one that Carter did nothing about for 400 days and finally, when Republican president Reagan got in office they were let go.

You say there was no hatred for the US in that region, yet the terrorists who killed 3,000 of my fellow Americans on 9/11 were trained in that region.

You'd have to ask the 3500 and their families, the ones that won't be coming home. The ones with no legs, one leg. Ask them.
Is America the police force of the world? why. Is there no other Countries that can give as much as us.
I have two years in the jungle and was spit on, sworn at, my dad turned his back on me. Why?

Why do I have to worry about my Grandsons going to war, why should I now, have to worry when my grand daughter tells me she wants to go "over there"
One grandson has been there for three years now, why?

I want my family home and safe, I gave my time, was wounded twice, my father gave two years in Europe, my Uncles in Korea, another in the South Pacific, why?

I'm tired of my family giving, and others saying "no" or laughing. Are we, America, the police force of the world?

I think you need a better grasp of 'reality' and history; before you start sounding off.

Because Iran isn't building nuclear weapons. If they are--are they invisible missiles just like Saddam's phantom stockpiles of WMDs which we went to war over?

Saddam never had nuclear weapons. He had a partially built NUCLEAR FACILITY which was taken out by the Israelis in the 80s.

The President of Iran said Israel should be 'wiped off the map'--but he didn't say HE was going to do it.

Saddam did kill thousands of his own people--with the very same weapons the US of A supplied to him in the 80s--in his fight against Iran. (Think on the 'lesser of two evils' cliche.)

But Thompson doesn't know anymore about the true state of Iraq had we NOT invaded illegally.

Before, there was no instability, no terrorist training grounds in Iraq, no thousands of dead Iraqis at the hands of coalition forces, no hatred of the US anywhere in the region. No Iran flexing its muscles at the US.

But since we invaded...?

The Middle East is now a more dangerous place than it ever could be.

All thanks to Bush and his cronies.

Congrats!

Your major worry seems to be the State of |Israel so I suppose you are jewish.
The President of Iran has said he wants to destroy the jewish state, this is not the same as destroying the jewish people.
Since its founding in 1948 by jewish terrorists and illegal immigrants from Europe Israel has been a rogue state invading its neighbors and carrying out ethnic cleansing against the christians and muslims in Palestine.
There will not be peace in the Middle East until this situation is resolved in favor of the indigenous peoples.
The invasion of Iraq has only made a bad situation worse.

Picture this, Your son or daughter comes home in a casket. There were no weapons of mass destruction found. That's a bad thing. The United States is not the worlds' policemen. The fighting you see going on in Iraq would never have happened under Sadaam Husseins' regime.

Eventually every country is going to have nukes. I am not afraid of any country using it. If Iran bombs Ireal, we will bomb them and their allies will bomb us and our allies will bomb them and so forth. We went through all this with the Russians. No country can get away with bombing any one with a nuclear bomb. So once you have it you realize you can't nuke anyone that has a bomb. But what I fear is some uneduated radical who believes they will go to heaven for bombing Satan and doesn't understand the impact he has on the world is what I am afraid of. And they tend to say, 'Allah' a lot. But every Muslim I know is pretty nice. Oh. exept that one Muslim who always quotes the bible (I mean Koran) and claims that Jews are the root of all evil.

So what's the difference?
The leaders of the U.S.A. have shown that they are not afraid to take someone's life.....
why are two 'insane' Islamic leaders any worse than one 'insane' U.S. President??
Saddam has killed 'tons' of his own people....George W. Bush has killed 'tons' of Iraqis AND 3,500 U.S. soldiers.
You think nuclear weapons in the hands of 'those maniacs' would be a whole lot worse.....what about nuclear weapons in the hands of a deranged U.S. President who has no compunction about going to 'war' all for the sake of OIL and WAR PROFITEERING??? Yeah, the 'war' in Iraq 'was' really a 'bad thing'.....and still is, especially when it still all hinges on the whims of a demonic, demented, bull-headed, juvenile like George W. Bush. -RKO- 06/25/07

theres no proof that iran is building nukes. so whoever said that was bending the truth to make the war sound like less of a failure. but one of the things america does is make sure countrys like that dont get start making nukes, how? by threatening to nuke them if they try to make them. thats why only like 5 countrys actually have them. so no that wouldnt have happened. but if it did theyd both become big craters in the middle of the east
