You are indeed describing ich. Any pet store sells ich medications, even Walmart and laces like that. Look for one with these ingredients: Malachite green and Formalin. Quick Sure is a common brand that has both of these. That's the best combination of medications on the market for ich. Treat them for 10 days after you see the last white spot disappear from the fish. It's important to keep treating even after it appears to be gone so that it doesn't come back.

Ich moves very quickly and will kill your fish is left untreated, so start treatment ASAP

This website will give you a few different options for treatment: http://www.skepticalaquarist.com/docs/health/ich.shtml If you use the malachite green/formalin combination, you can find this under the names Quick Cure or Rid Ich. Both ingredients are carcinogenic, so be careful when handling.

It will also help to raise the temperature to 86-88o a few degrees each hour to speed up the life cycle of the parasite so treatment can take effect faster. Threat for 10-14 days, no matter what the directions say, and at least 3-5 days after you see the last spots on the fish. When the parasites are on the fish, they're enclosed in a cyst and aren't affected by medication. If you stop treating too early, you risk reinfection.

Go to your pet store and buy a bottle of Mardel's Coppersafe. You add 1 teaspoon per every 4 gallons of water. You only need to do this once, as it lasts 30 days. Make sure you remove the carbon from your filter, as it can neutralize the medicine.

I use it every time my fish have ick, and it has always worked. Best of all, it doesn't turn the water green or stain the silicone like some other brands.

This is called "ich". It's when they get white spots all on their bodies. U need 2 put them in a bowl with a little bit of salt in the water. Keep them separate from the other fish.

Sounds like Ich, just like everyone said. You don't need a vet, just go to the pet store and ask them for Ich medicine. The treatment is a few drops of medicine in the tank every day for several days to week.

My fish have had Ich several times. Some die and some survive but they will definately die if you don't treat them.
