Here's the saddest song I've ever heard--

"The End of the World" by Skeeter Davis.

It's not only the lyrics, but the melody. Sometimes I look out the window at the sun shining bright (San Diego haha) and I think that this song can outdo all of the sunlight in the world. It makes me think of fog in San Francisco and rain and children crying and dead dogs but mostly, it makes me think of outside in the camp when it's all dark and it's black everywhere, everyone's asleep, and you feel like you're the only person on the planet.

That's what this song makes me feel.

People have listed many great Make me Cry songs. Nobody mentioned any by Neil Young. His voice and harmonica in so many makes it sound as if he is sad. examples... Heart of Gold,Philedelphia, Old Man, Southern Man, Needle and the Damage Done and Hey, Hey, My,My
Also, someone wrote Hurt by Johnnny Cash, anyone ever hear Trent Reznor and David Bowie do it live? It's awesome, saw it on youtube the other night.

Pledging My Love - Johnny Ace
http://music.yahoo.com/track/430231

It's a hauntingly beautiful but sad song with a back story that makes it sadder. Johnny Ace was an up and coming blues/R&B singer that accidentally shot himself in the head during a "Russian Roulette" game backstage of a 1955 concert in Houston, TX.
