I have so much extra breastmilk and I am very healthy - mother of three girls- I dont smoke, drink or do any kind of drugs. I eat very healthy, have never had any diseases, etc. Are there any programs that allow people to sell their milk?

I don't know of any place to sell, but donation centers are popping up around the nation. It is processed and pasteurized and mostly used for super sick babies and preemies by dr's prescription. Our local bank takes 100 ounces at a time. And there is a medical screening. If there's a milk bank locally, you might call them.

There's also the idea of being a personal wet nurse for a family unable to supply their own breast milk! I guess in Los Angeles, there's actually a company for just this purpose. The women are screened completely prior to being set up with a family. And they make roughly $1,000 a week!! But you'd have to do some digging on the subject for something close by!

Hi there,
I just wanted to apologise for some of the ignorant answers that you have gotten. Thank goodness, people are NOT "so into formula feeding these days"! More and more people are being educated every day about the incredible qualities of breastmilk. Most mothers are more intelligent than that person gives them credit for being! It is true at this point in time, that college educated mothers are the ones most likely to breastfeed, but that is gradually changing. ALL babies deserve breastmilk, not just those from mothers who are smart and well off. (Grrrr).
Thumbs down to every person who said that breastmilk, and your offer to share it with others was "gross". Their is nothing at all gross about breastmilk! It is a beautiful, wonderful gift that every mother should give to her baby.
I had so much milk when I nursed that I remember feeling the same way you do! There should be some kind of market for breastmilk.
The thing is really, that breastmilk is so fragile in some ways, it would be hard to make sure it was sterile and still retain its incredible qualities. I just don't know how it would be done.
It is sad that there really are babies who need breastmilk and their own mothers are too selfish to make sure that they have it, but you are right, there are.
Like some of the others who answered you, I think you might be able to donate to LLL but I really do not think that there would be any monetary gain involved.
I find your generous thoughts to be heartwarming.
Love and Blessings

Generally milk can only be donated for use for babies. However private agreements sometimes happen. There is however a market for breastmilk among the infantalism fetish community, they pay pretty well though it isn't legal to sell breastmilk in some places.

Look into donating to a milk bank instead of selling. They will use the milk for preemie and very sick infants. There is typically a lot of paperwork involved at the beginning to determine the health of the donating mother, and they will only accept fresh milk, not previously frozen.

Good for you

I know you can do it privately or list it on craigslist but I don't think there are any organizations that will buy it from you. You can *donate* it to a milk bank then they turn around and sell it to moms who need it.

Call your local chapter of La Leche League.

There might be a donation process, but I doubt getting paid is much of an option.

You can sell blood, though, so who knows??

I don't think there is any call for wet nurses today. But, you could ask your Dr, if such a thing is done in this day an age. Possibly a premi or a child that is alergic to formula. They some times feed them goats milk, mothers milk is for babys.

No, I dont think really anybody would want to buy breast milk. Even though you are very healthy and your milk is healthy, other people might not believe you when you say that so the best thing to do is just save it for a couple of days and then pour t down the drain. But any ways you can always try.

I would contact La Leche League.

They are a support group for breast feeding women.
