Does anyone else hate those Visa check card commercials that show everything moving along in a checkout line smoothly with the Visa checkcard and then when someone writes a check it jams up or slows down? Do you find it personally insulting? Do you think it's encouraging us to use credit cards more?

Hello-

I just stumbled upon your question while surfing the net. I totally agree that those Visa commercials are insulting and have even voiced that to some co-workers. It is totally ridiculous to think that using a credit card can be faster than using cash - especially when a customer has the correct change ready to pay for their purchases. But then I guess, with so many cashiers not being able to count money well due to being dependent on a register that nearly takes care of an entire transaction on it's own....

I also told them it was nothing more than a conditioning mechanism to get everyone on board with a "cashless" society.

The flip side to this is that use of the cards prevents theft, from outsiders and from within a store (or wherever) a purchase can be made. It's also a cleaner way of doing business... less money to count and account for at the end of the day.

However, I re-state that I do find those commercials offensive and may even muster up the energy to let Visa know how I feel about them.

Peace

I hate those commercials because all it wants us to do is run up our debt. Think about it if writing a check you write it and show ID and you are done. The ones especaially annoying are the cash ones because with cash you give them money they give you change done deal but with visa it is like run the card, check ID sign a slip talk about holding up a line I mean come on those commercials are such a lie

they are hawking a product like every other commercial on tv, frankly I find most commercial interruptions insulting in that they obviously point out that people are too stupid to make up their own minds. The last commercial I saw that I actually appreciated (not the product mind you but the commercial itself) was a Pepsi commercial. A family goes to visit grandma, she opens the door and twelve lab puppies tumble out onto the front lawn, playing with the newly arrived kids. Not a word is said, but the whole thing made you smile and giggle. Now that was class.

I find it accurate. I use a check card, a check is old fashioned!
