anything by Chuck Palahniuk, especially Survivor or Haunted. Awesome author. Kurt Vonnegut's "Slaughter-House Five" or "Welcome To The Monkey House".

I like to read childrens' books because their is usually less violence and crap in them...wait a minute...I just spoke to my 20 year old son to enquire what the movie v for vendetta was about, [because i didn't see it] and he told me briefly what it was about and that Natalie Portman was in it [on the topic of movies co-starring Natalie Portman ...if you have not already seen it... she stars in a movie entitled "The Professional"...I think you'd love it...fantastic ending]. A book i had just read recently was a book entitled "Beautiful Joe"...but I don't think that is what your looking for...it's about a cruel farmer that would torture his animals and Beautiful Joe was actually an ugly looking dog as a result of the inhumane acts his owner did to him, but he gets rescued and is named "Beautiful" Joe
by his new good owner. I think, if you haven't read it already, a book that might interest you would be "1984" written by George Orwell.

How about a book that extols the idea that V's philosophy was based on?

"The Law" by Bastiat

It's less than a hundred pages, perhaps you want another one as well.

Umm... I've never seen that but since it is from Cuba I can picture it. But, I must suggest you to try alot of different genres. I personally love To kill a mocking bird. But another one of my favorites Island Girls (and boys!) Happy Reading!
