If your water breaks, amniotic fluid will leak from your vagina and make it look like you have wet your pants. Sometimes, the leak could be very slight, and you may think it is urine (that after all of this, you are finally incontinent). One way to tell the difference is to smell it -- if it smells sweet, it is most likely amniotic fluid; if it smells like ammonia, it is probably urine. Regardless, do not make your own diagnosis -- call your healthcare provider. He or she can do some tests in order to tell if your water has in fact broken.
If your water breaks and you have not begun labor contractions, this is a sign that you should begin labor within 24 to 48 hours. Contact your healthcare provider and let him or her know that your water has broken and that you are on your way to the hospital, or wherever you plan on delivering your baby.
It is important to keep the vaginal area clean after your water breaks, because the baby is now unprotected from germs. Moms should not take a bath, have sexual intercourse, or use a tampon to stop the flow of the amniotic fluid. Congratuations! I think you're on your way to having that baby!!

Sounds to me like you dont have long to go At 38 weeks you really dont have a lot to worry about cos your baby can come without being premature. The last 4 weeks of pregnancy is your baby putting on weight. It is already fully formed inside and out, so dont panic. Loosing/leaking your water or the mucous plug, is your body getting ready for the birth.Get ready for the experience of a lifetime and congratulations.

YES
Your water can be leaking out slowly from a tear in the placenta that the baby keeps 'plugging up'
The only bad thing is that risk of infection rises when your water breaks. So go get checked and make sure that it's amniotic fluid and not urine.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

What color fluid? Any blood? Any different feelings down below (like a bubbling sensation)? You may be slowly dilating in preparation for delivery. I would call the hospital and talk to an OBGYN nurse to find out what they think, simply because IF you are about to go in to labor, they may have some advice and/or want you to report.

Yes, You could have a small tear in your amniotic membrane. This is an invitation for infection. You need to go into your doctor where they will do a simple test to determine if the liquid coming out of you is truly amniotic fluid. good luck and God bless.

Yes it could so see a doctor asap they can do a simple test to find out. What might actually be happening though is that you could be leaking urine...I know it sounds gross but it happens to most women when they are pregnant and if that is the case your doctor will explain why and how it is happening. But like I said PLEASE go in to labor and delivery asap. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
GOOD LUCK!

You should call the birthing center at your hospital and ask them if you should come in. They can test the fluid and see if it is amneotic fluid. It is very important that you find out asap so that nothing happens to the baby. Good luck!

Could be. Have your dr check in your next appointment. But I think you'd know if your water was breaking--lots of fluid and probably some major labor pain. If you're at all worried, check in at the hospital.

I thought i was leaking fluid also, but the baby sometimes will press down so hard on your bladder that you will drip urine uncontrolably. But see your doctor just in case. it's important to have enough fluid around the baby.
