Good question. I used to top off the tank with $10 or $20, but a mechanic brought up a good point by telling me that's ok but every so often burn it down to empty. You want to get rid of the old gas in the tank and get fresh gas. Make sense? Did to me.

I fill it up and it costs me almost $60 to fill an empty tank. My hubby likes to run it to almost empty because we are near a gas station.
I know $60 is alot for a car but gas is expensive.

I put in $10-$15 and then pray that it comes down the next time I need gas. I'd have to take out a damn loan to fill it up.

I'm a $20 at a time guy - but I remember when $20 would get you 4 tankfuls, not half of one . . .

Since I don't want to take out a loan I get $20 or less at a time.

I fill the tank. It usually costs a little under $50.00 and almost lasts a week.

Fill it up. My fuel range calculations get screwed up otherwise. I don't really use my gas gauge on the truck (don't have a gas gauge on the motorcycle) and use the tripmeter to determine when to fill up.

because if you fill up, you have to make 2 trips in store, so i know i can put 20 dollars in if its close to empty, so i always get 20 too. then i can drive a few days on it.and one trip inside store.
