As a huge Yankees fan i hope they come back and fight back and they think they will get there because of 4 things.
1) Offence is waking up
2) Bullpen is firing
3) Roger, Andy, Chen and Moose
4) Boston is a bunch of choke artists and there good at it losing 5 games in a row. Bring back Bill Buckner

I personally hate the Yankees. I am not a Red Sox fan, but i hate the Yankees. I have to give them credit, they have almost all the best players, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Roger Clemens, they're all great. But, I really don't think they will even make the playoffs the way they're going. Obviously, there is still a chance, but it is very slim. And A ROD is good, but he alone cannot win every game for them. The problem with the Yankees is that they work as individuals, not a team. They are more like a group of Great Players. Not a team. I like Jeter, he is a great player is is not there for the money. But some players think they can dominate the field because of themselves. A ROD for example, he believes that without help, he can win it. He can't. The Yankees are a great team and have always been good. But honestly, they are probably not even going to make the playoffs.

There is the this minor teeny weeny very, very very small stipulation in the MLB which says you must make the playoffs before you win the World Series. And as of right now there has never been a team make it to the World Series with a below.500 record. But it is fun watching Gay-Rod hit all those useless home runs. I wonder what the Rockette will use for an excuse when he loses this week. Last week is was thin air, high altitude maybe this week it will be the smog.

It is going to be a hard road for the Yankees. I don't think they can make it as a wild card with both Detroit and Cleveland having good years. That leaves the Yankees having to beat Boston to win the division. Not impossible, but definitely an up hill battle.

P.S. I had you as a Yankee fan from the Matsuzaka question. You failed to let me repond to your attack, but I do have a question. If I was so far off, why was I chosen as the "best answer"?
About Nomo in his first year, he was good yes. The splitter he had was almost kinda a novelty then. Mike Scott used it in the 80's and was the most succesful,(sorry Roger!) but the Japanese pitchers ALL used fastball/splitter...he just had the best one.
Comparing stats...ANY STATS to Wakefield is still dumb.
P.S. S. the Marketing degree didn't impress me. You are not the only one with a degree.

No, I don't think they have the pitching. Giambi and Damon are way past their primes. However they still do have some serious bats in that order and if they picked up another solid starter then you never know. Never count the Yanks totally out.

Well first they have to be above .500.
Second, they have to make the playoffs.
Third, they need to beat Boston or Angels.
I only see one of those happening at best and that's point #1.
