Yes. Adultery is against the mightiest law of all, God's law. However, ethically speaking, it shouldn't matter if it is written in man's law or God's law, committing adultery is a shameful and dishonorable act. A person should respect their spouse as well as themselves. Peace and God bless.

It is against the law ;but it is not enforced. You go to court and you said you will tell the truth and nothing but the truth. If you are caught telling a lie in court they can hold you in contempt and they can put you away.
However, in marriage you made an oath to be in covenant with one person as the law allows and if you break that covenant and commit adultery with someone else you have broken the civil law.
I will say to you steam up things with the one you have. The grass is always looking greener on the other side until you get there and find out that there is drought over there- trouble and heartache.

The following states have statutes that concern adultery, but none for fornication, cohabitation, or common-law marriage. In some of them adultery is grounds for divorce only. In others the offending spouse simply forfeits any rights to the innocent spouse's estate. In the rest of them, adultery is a crime that can only be prosecuted by the offended spouse. In a successful polygamous relationship, these need not be obstructive. If the relationship fails, however, the statutory adulterer will be charged.
Connecticut
Delaware
Indiana
Kentucky
Louisiana
Maine
Maryland (Adultery results in a $10 fine and is grounds for divorce)
Missouri
New Jersey
Ohio
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas (Texas does recognize common-law marriages, but apparently only if they are registered with the county clerk)
Vermont
Both states make adultery and fornication misdemeanors, although in Illinois the conduct must be "open and notorious." For interest's sake, we have listed all of the states whose statutes are no worse than Georgia or Illinois. This only means that in these states you are as likely as not, to be able to find a lawyer who will talk to you.
Hope this helps!

OF COURSE IT IS! ANY OFFENSE THAT YOU CAN BE SUED IN COURT FOR....IS AGAINST THE LAW! Just because loose moralled people are cheating openly and their spouses are too stupid to file in court for divorce, USING THE STATUE OF ADULTERY, does not make it a 'non law'!
Because of the lack of 'request to enforce', a lot of people think it is just a MORAL ISSUE and it is; HOWEVER, IT IS ALSO AGAINST THE LAW TO BE MARRIED TO ONE PERSON AND SLEEP WITH ANOTHER!
You will probably get 'all different opinions here on YA, because you have a wide population of people who don't know any better. LOOK IT UP FOR YOURSELF!
GOOD LUCK

In some states, yes but others have removed it from the books. In the military, it is a court martial offense. Also in many other countries around the world, it is a crime punishable by death. It is really a despicable act that should be punished even if it was by caning.

I don't know if it's against the law, but it's against what God says and that is a higher power than anyone here on earth. It's just plain wrong all the way around.

I hope this is not going off topic..
My husband and I have been married almost 7 years. He had had multiple affairs (one ending up in a sexual harrasment suit in court) we have been seperated two weeks and he had brought his latest lover around my very small children ranging in age 3-5. They have done dinner, swam in our pool together, visited her parents and cousin's house, "cuddled" on the couch to watch movies, gone to baseball games, cooked at the house, gone to the gym, ALL of this in the presence of my 5 year old who is very confused and upset. How will a judge view this type of irresponsible behavior? We are fighting over the housem, custody, you name it. He has the attitude that he had no consequesnces to his actions and disregards most of what the judge had ordered so far,
I have on two occaisions taken my daughter to a social worker just to make sure she is emotionally taken care of. Please advise you opinions to me as they matter.
Thanks!

The law of marriage it is, but i think if adultery was put into law maybe just maybe there wouldn't be so much FUC KING around and broken marriages. Put their as ses in jail for cheating. Who's with me on this?

It's just WRONG!
Is it that big of a deal to be with someone else? Now maybe I could see if you were totally cut off at home but if nothing is wrong there, don't cause a problem.
