I have, occasionally. But normally I just see that as metaphorical, sort of like "climbing the walls" when you're bored or stressed out. Still, the gesture suggests throwing the question to the winds: giving up in that sense.

If you are Italian, you throw your hands up. If you are French you just shrug in a certain way. If you are American you probably shoot a bunch of complete strangers. If Russian, you invite everyone over for a Vodka. I could go on...

When I get to that point I do . . . literally. Because by then I'm so upset that I'm an emotional wreck, and I literally throw my hands up. I guess it's symbolic to show I'm done . . .

Now that you mention it, I don't think I do.....and I don't think I throw my hands up when I throw my hands up in horror, either.

Yes, and then I smash my fist on the table and scream,"I give
up!"
Both hands always seem to remain attached so far.

Yes, sometimes I do that. But sometimes I pick up a blunt object and beat someone about the head with it.

I actually did that once, I walked over to someone in frustration and threw my hands in the air and said "What's going on??!!???".
