Hey Twinkle. There's many technologies, beginning with battle tactics, made possible by the various ranks of soldiers and officers to carry them out. There is also gunpowder, which gave way to the better performance of "smokeless" powder by the end of the Civil War. The Gatling gun (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) which was the first machine gun. It was invented during the war, but never used. The recoil cannon, which didn't need to be re-aimed after firing. The iron-clad ship out performed the wooden battle ships built prior to the war. The first submarine. The first rotating gun turret on a ship. The observation balloon. The conical bullet. The first breach-loading rifle. The first land mines. And railroads were used to move troops and supplies with great success. Hope this helps.
