I just had a quick look at all the answers you have so far and cannot believe what I saw. Some people out there have far too much time on their hands. I have only used the thumbs down option a few times on very rare occasions. If I use it on a question I ask, then I add a detail telling the person so! I have nothing to hide.
Oh and to the half wit that decides to give me a thumbs down for this, shame on you. You really are a terribly immature person, who needs to find a life!!!

Yeah, I do. There are some questions I see where every single answer has a thumbs down, even the good answers. Seriously, do people think they are being devious or something because they give everyone a thumbs down? Lame.

I only use thumbs down for obscene or rude answers. Others are now using them just because they don't like you or your opinion. Yes, they are being abused.

Sometimes it does get use way to much on just questions that ask for your personal opinion or that is supposed to be fun.

Yah, they should just get rid of it. I mean, it doesn't really have any bearing on quality. In lieu of thumbs, they could leave the "hide/show" function so one could still "avoid" certain trolly answers...
