They deduct it monthly off your credit card, or you can prepay for like 3 months, 6 months or a year of service(usually cheaper if you pay in advance. I have never had a problem opening and closing MMO accounts and they are all very secure.....reachable by phone or online thru tech support. You need to remind her these game sites deal with 100,000's of thousands of people and are ligit businesses who tend to have very good customer service overall...ie.....easy to reach....easy to cancel, and very secure.

Anyway, millions of people play this game, including around 5 million in the US alone. It costs $14.95 per month... it costs less if you pay for it 6 months at a time (around $70 for 6 months)
You normally pay be credit card, but you can buy game cards at Comp USA and some other stores... that way Blizzard does not get your credit card info if that is what she is worried about..
Blizzard has been around for a long time, and they are owned by Vivendi Games in California.
I play this game, and I love it. They are a reputable company. They will not steal any money... and credit cards are quite safe, as you have the power to dispute charges.
Get the game, you will love it. You dont have to worry about them stealing money. Time... maybe. Not money though.
Check out www.worldofwarcraft.com or www.blizzard.com
Google world of warcraft... see what everyone says.

I dont believe there is any store selling the game, that is not also providing the game cards.... You get a month with the purchase of the game, and then you need to either arrange for billing (credit cards are one way), or purchase more game cards. These game cards look like phone cards/credit cards, etc... they are made of plastic, and have a number on them. If you buy the game card, you pay for it at the store, and then plug the number into your game account online. It is often cheaper to purchase large amounts of time, or to arrange for auto-billing in multiple month increments. The more time you buy up front, the cheaper it is, usually, which is why many people opt for the credit card billing.
Purchasing game time by credit card billing is no more dangerous than any other online purchase. Blizzard/Vivendi is a BIG corporation -- theyre in the business of selling games, not stealing credit card numbers.
If you cannot swing purchasing game cards at the store, you might want to check into games that are not subscription based, like Guild Wars... in that game, you pay for the box, and there is no monthly fee to play. There are other games available too.
Have Fun

You can buy the game, and a time card from the store. This prevents you from having to give out your Credit Card information over the internet, and allows you to play the game.

I play it and my kids and husband play it. You can purchase prepaid game cards with two months prepaid time on them. I think WalMart or Target may even carry them. My local electronics store does. When your account comes due (you'll get a message when you try to log-in) enter the numbers on a new card and you're good for two months. No credit cards needed, no risk.
I've played for two years and no issues with using my credit card number have come up. If worried, buy the prepaid cards.

I think that the proof is in the fact that over 5million people pay for it monthly and dont get scamed and money stolen, u dont have to subscribe to a year plan, you can play monthly bimonthly or trimonthly if you want. Its a well known company they arnt going to scam your money, they dont need to

Ummm all video game sites use very secure pay sites ... actually the pay sites are probably safer than the actual game itself
