They are and always will be wild animals, and the males can be very territorial. Aggression usually stems from protecting their territory. My roommate has a male "adolescent" iguana who latched on to her hand last week because she was trying to pull him out of his cage. Likewise, a friend of mine has a trio of adult iguanas, and his normally docile 4 foot male took a nice chunk out of his leg just because he was trying to clean his cage, and was intruding on the iguanas territory.

I had a couple of these guys when I got out of high school. They behavior can often be baffeling. The one I had, he would go ballistic if you were wearing a shirt with a lot of design and color. And he wouldn't tolerate any man wearing a hat at any time lol. We had a repair man come to the house one time, and of course, he was fascinated by this 6 foot lizard. "Guanie" did not like this guy at all. He kept slapping that huge tail against his glass enclosure we were scared to death he was going to break the thing. We had to pull this guy away from the enclosure because he just wouldn't leave him alone.
At any rate, in my opinion, a full grown adult iguana should be let to have the run of a part of your home. Keeping them caged leads to pent up aggression and frustration. If you have a dog, it might be difficult. Iguanas usually do not like dogs at all.

The problem is usually with males due to their strong territorial instinct. It becomes more of a problem as they mature. I recall reading somewhere that male iguanas produce a large amount of testosterone relative to their size. Some vets will neuter the males to control aggressive behaviour in pets.

the two woman and male iguana's might have this undesirable temper swing month-to-month, form of like a woman is on her rag, or the male is... properly you get the photograph. yet merely save socializing him/her, and he/she'll love ya for ever. merely gunna might desire to placed up with an occasional temper swing.
