Not just any book but one where it's enjoyable to get knowledge from? You're actually describing every book, fiction and non-fiction alike. I add fiction as you're going to gain knowledge of the events of the book as you read it, knowledge that can be used in discussing the book.
But keep in mind that the enjoyable part is really up to the individual person. For instance, I enjoy the American Civil War and enjoy reading books about it. Perhaps you'd find it boring, and thusly claim the books I suggest to be a waste of your time. I'd find reading about mathematical theories terribly boring, but there are people out there who actually get excited about it.

I'm not sure what kind of knowledge you're looking for, but first thing that comes to mind is "Sophie's World" by Jostein Gaarder. Through Sophie's interactions with a mysterious older man, the reader gets an amusing retelling of the history of Western philosophy.

I'd like to recommend Peter Watson's "IDEAS: A History of Ideas from Fire to Freud", a huge paperback published by Phoenix House Ltd. (2006), it's readable and understandable with good figures, drawings and references.
