Probably Chuck Berry was and I am sure a couple of others that had a similar style.
Some may say Elvis but he fashioned his sound and style from singers like Chuck or maybe even ones that came before him.or during that same era.
Elvis made it more widely known.

60 minute man by bill ward and the dominos on the black side, (a 1951 song that actually used the words rock and roll in the same sentence... "I rock 'em, roll 'em, all night long, I'm the 60 minute man"), crazy man crazy by bill haley and the comets on the white side. Was elvis was the first one to fuse the two sounds successfully? I dunno, I'd say Carl perkins was.

rock and roll came from the hart with feeling and emotion! it included love, lonelyness, sadness, and many other things that modern youth arent aquainted with. Boom Boom, do yo momma , do yo sista....... there is realy no comparison! best example is from Roy Orbison,,,,,,,,only the Lonely! Music to dance too. just jumping around aint dancing!!!!!! If you follow Britney, its just coriography! and so is Line Dancing

IT SURE AS HELL WASN'T ELVIS.
The man stole his style from JACKIE WILSON, CHUCK BERRY, LITTLE RICHARD (He has said this many times).
All you have to do is look at his "movie" and it tells you!
The new ROCK ya'll listen to thank JIMI HENDRIX!
