Schools are a business! If one has connections one is more likely to be able to make something of their life. The schools hope that they in turn will send funds & other assets their way.
If Pres. G. H. W. Bush was Black as the night his son got either a D average or an A average he would be equally likely to be attempted. They could pay the cost of tuition & likely donate to the school in the future. Money is the 1st consideration. Today diversity maybe 2nd, with grades a close 3rd. Now atholetic ability may even Trump Money/Power the schools make a great deal of money off TV coverage. Higher education is like all businesses no matter about being called non-profit.

I t was because Dad was over the CIA , his Grandfather was Hulen Bush., a Senator at the time, money can buy anything, Ask and thou Shalt receive. He can't even read and write how could he graduate with a C Average. If you can't read , you sure can't write , tell me how he could graduate legally from Yale. He is white , PaPa got the money and the Yale has got the time. He should have went to school for children with special needs. Him and Neal bought couldn't read a word they had the dyslexia, which is terrible disease for a person to have his mother tried to teach them, I seen this on Barbara Autographic on a A&E It was G.W, Neal, that little 3 year old sister that died of Polio at age 3, there is another girl her name I think Dedra and then Jeb.

He was a legacy for both Yale and the White House. Legacies now are available without regard to race -- see Michael Powell.

If he was a legacy who had a dad who donated loads of money sure he could have gotten in if he were black. Yale does not discriminate. They accept everyones money and connections.

Rich did have something to do with it, but more importantly was who GWBs Father is.
Before being President and VP for Reagan for 8 years, George HW Bush was Director of the CIA. He had tremendous clout and it was a matter picking up the phone, he got George Jr in the Texas ANG ahead of dozens of much more qualified applicants, he picked up the phone and got Georgie into Yale, he picked up the phone and got Georgie OUT of the Texas ANG when he deserted for doing blow just before a Flight physical.
Problem is, Dad cant bail him out anymore. Dad didnt find Osama bin Laden and neither has his abysmal faliure of a son.

Two reasons, none of which have to do with race.
1. he is a "legacy", they are always given preference on admittance at almost every prestigious university.
2. Both sides of his family were not only connected socially & politically, but were LOADED as well, trust me this always helps.

I don't know. Why don't you ask Al Gore the same question? He got into Yale, had a lower GPA than Bush, and almost became President.
