Well, some anime characters are based of historical or mythical people in japan.
For example, the famous Shinsengumi group in Rorouni Kenshin existed back then. Also Saitoh Hajime was a real person.

well i mean is it everyday that you see different creatures in the floor and skies and waters that can actually kill you or hurt you and catch them up in a ball(pokemon) or is it everyday that you see a person carrying a giant sword and killing people(a lot of anime only few are going to be mentioned ravemaster, final fantasy, bleach, inuyasha etc etc) or is it everyday that you see ninjas fighting(naruto) or is it everyday when you hug a person he will become an animal(fruits basket) or is it everyday that you see kids that has special powers(gakuen alice)
though there live action but still not real i mean try watching prince of tennis but again there is anime shows that is possible to happen in real life like nodame cantibile, GTO etc etc

yes.Their are some anime based on something that would of happened thousand years ago from genaration to genaration japan.
Dragonball Z = UFOs/Aliens/Ghosts/Psychic
Yu-Gi-Oh! = Pharoahs/King Tuts
Pokemon = Bug Catching
Digimon = Cyber Pet Devices
go to YouTube and type japaorama + anime and manga and see for yourself.

....Yup. Somehow, being printed on paper gave them life and the ability to breathe and have their heart pump! They walk around like human beings cuz they are real....just like dragons. oh yea and unicorns, those things make great pets dude
