In California 95% of all aluminum cans are recycled because there is nickle or dime deposit paid on all cans which can be redeemed at vending machines outside most California Super Markets, even recycle yards are required to pay that deposit on cans returned to them. Perhaps if they did that with the plastic drinking bottles then more would be recycled.
