Most wholesalers have websites, but they often don't post prices for the public to see. The first thing you will need is a business license. With that, you can apply to buy fish and supplies from various wholesalers and direct from manufacturers. You will have to explain that at this time you have no storefront and are simply gathering information for your business plan.... unless of course you have already secured a storefront location. Most larger wholesale outlets will also require this before they will sell to you, but that's not always the case. The trade magazines listed above will be a good resource for the names and websites of various whole sale outlets. Generally, better shops buy from several suppliers, getting the best quality from each and also shopping prices on dry goods.

Best of luck in your future business

Here's a few trade magazines, which are a good start.
As the owner of a small pet shop, be prepared to make about $500 a week and work 50 hours a week or more. I had about $25,000 invested when I started. I presently have about $20,000 worth of merchandise and about $20,000 worth of fixtures on hand. I work pretty hard. Try moving 500 lbs of dog food and anther 500 lbs of cat litter/food each and every day but Sunday.
