do you have a wifi connection?
Also you need to configure it first on your ds. Main menu go over to Nintendo Wifi Settings option. Then you select one of the slots for your connection, and look for an access point. Find your wifi or something in range, do a test and you are connected.

If that doesn't help, disconnect your router and modem for 15 seconds and retry.

you go to your screen in the beggining, go down and choose Nintendo WFC and pick the BLUE button.First you will have to search for an access point if you don't have one you will need to do this manually...
BUT... if you do find an access point you will need to look for three things... a blue unlocked lock a red locked lock and a silver locked lock, for the silver lock, you will need to either switch to WEP security, or remove the security setting of your router when connecting with the Nintendo DS. For the red lock you will need to type in the the WEP code wich is the serial number of your router model, the blue lock is free for wifi connection .sounds confusing but it will help ALOT! if you don't have a wireless router you will need to:
1. buy a wireless router
2. get a wi-fi usb cable
I hope that helps

well first off, you have to have wi-fi...

then, turn on your DS...

when the game loads, therell be a few options:

Continue
New Game
something
somethign else
Wi-Fi connections...

you'll have to go to that wifi connections and set up the access point first, then you can trade without problem...
