I truly believe that life is a series of trials and tribulations. There is a lot of good things however along the way and I think that the "meaning of life" is to persevere and learn to be the best that you can be. Death is not an end though... it is a beginning. I believe in heaven and hell and that when you have learned all the lessons that God wanted you to learn He will call you home. A death is always sad to those left behind on earth as we miss our friends and loved ones. however, it is an entrance into an after life of eternity in which if they go to heaven will be free from pain and suffering. Any suffering that your friend experienced during his sickness is now gone and you can rest in the thought that he is in a better place. This kind of question is hard because sometimes it can lead to more and deeper questions, but I hope that this has at least helped you a little. Good luck in your quest for the meaning of life. This is a quest that for most, lasts a lifetime.

Eccl 12:13 We are here to serve one anerther. Service by being kind ,good, gentle helpful, loving, peaceful, because we build up each other or we tear down, and sometimes we do both to destroy bad habits and replace them with good but sometime we are allowed to see what others can't. Help them. Teach them to think and vice versa, remain teachable, for in this life gives back to the givers and will take from the takers all the time in one way or another.

First, my condolences to you. Brain cancer, geez, that must be hard for you and his/her family. The meaning of life is knowing that you don't know when you will go, but hoping that it isn't too soon, you make the best of it. What that 'best' is...you figure it out. What is the best life spent? What can I do to cultivate, develop myself, and grow?... are the questions to ask everyday.

The meaning of life is simple:
Q) What does any other creature on the planet strive for?
A) To be born, to mature, to make more of itself, then to die.
Why, as humans, do we think we have such a bigger 'meaning of life'.
The thing here is, we have free thought. Where as other creatures don't.
Thus, we start to think about things like "What is the meaning of life."
Are we as humans, too vane to think our meaning here is so much more than say a cat's?
Simply put, the meaning of life is a cycle.
To be born,
To mature,
To make more of ourselves,
Then to pass on.
I am sorry to hear about your friend, but everything happens for a reason. My wishes are with you, loosing a best friend hurts.

Pink Floyd says it best...
All that you touch
All that you see
All that you taste
All you feel.
All that you love
All that you hate
All you distrust
All you save.
All that you give
All that you deal
All that you buy,
Beg, borrow or steal.
All you create
All you destroy
All that you do
All that you say.
All that you eat
And everyone you meet
All that you slight
And everyone you fight.
All that is now
All that is gone
All thats to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon.

like the the dude said the meaning of life is to live it.
u have to live ur life. maybe some ppl look for the meaning of of live all their lifes.
but i think u have live ur life meaningfully.
i'd say life is like a movie. u make ur own movie that ur proud of. u write ur own script. (happyness, sadness, excitment) make ur script somthing beautiful and COLORFUL.
make ur life meaningful and happy.
making ur self happy and others happy.b/c ur in someones life and someone else is in ur life.
By the time u die. u look back at it. u might say u have no regrets b/c u've lived it and wrote a beautiful and colorful life!

I don't think there is a meaning. It is just a matter of enjoying the passing of time. I'm sorry about your friend.
