If two sides of a triangle are 11 and 15, which is not a possible length for the third side?

4 as any two sides of a triangle have a sum less than the other side, e,g. if you have a triangle with sides 11 and 15, 11+4=15 so 4 doesn't work, neither would 3, 2, or one because the resulting triangle would either not close, or have two infinitely small angles and one 180 degree angle, so inother words, the triangle would be an infinitely flat line segment

Given any two sides of a triangle:
the sum of their lengths is greater than the third side
and
the absolute value of the difference of their lengths is less than the length of the third side.

For this triangle, possible measures, x, for the third side are
|11 - 15 | < x < 11 + 15
4 < x < 26

Answer: 4 is not a possible length for the third side

Any number that is 4 or less or any number that is greater than 26 If the two sides given are laid one on top of the other 4 units(15-11) are not covered, If he two sides are laid end to end (11+15)the third sides cannot be 26 units or more

as one knows, the straight line is the shortest distance between two points, and so the sum of two of three triangle sides must be greater than the third side, and so 4 in this case would make 11+4= 15, and that is "illegal" and so the answer is 4

For all triangles with sides a, b and c:
a+b > c
a+c > b
c+b> a
This must always be true.
So, 4 cannot be the other side because 4+11 is equal to 15 and it must be greater than 15 for that other side to be possible.
