well where do i begin. i just finish with my degree as an Rn i will be 21 in Oct and my men will be 22. were both done with school and on top of that hes coming home from serving in the army over seas. so we want to go on a cruise for a week then to canada at the end of july. so my best friend wanted to come to canada with us so she could marry her 2nd cousin ewwwwwww and she wants me to be her maid of honnor, i mean she's my girl t'ill the end its just nastyyyy i told her her baby's might have birth deffects she said she doesnt care but it botter's me a lot seing her doing that so i want to cancel my Canada trip and go in December because each time i see them kissing each other i want to vomit and the thing is they look soooooooooooo much alike some people even mistake them for twinsssssssssss. how do i help my friend out.

Well I think that you should just support your friend no matter what after all that is what friends are for. We don't have to agree with what someone is doing but if we consider them a friend then we should be there for them and besides we don't really know who all is in our family tree, can you honestly say you have traced your significant others and your family history all the way back and you two are not related in some way, you never know his great great great great grandfather might be your great great great great grandfathers son so that would mean you are engaging in a form of incest. Also they are not closely enough related for there children to have a mental illness

They are second cousins.... that's basically two generations apart.
Now this may sound strange.... but having breed champion show dogs and cattle... it is regularly bred animals that are that closely related..... as long as at least one side of their own person family tree is not related it's considered ok...
Incest technically would be a father or brother sexual relationship.

I very much agree with you on this one, but believe it or not it is perfectly normal in some cultures to marry your cousins. I think it would be like kissing my own brother. Just tell her sorry and you changed your mind about the trip. You can still go but don't tell her you are going. This was suppose to be a trip between you and your guy anyways right?

People marrt their cousins all the time. The best thing to do is to screen them for genetic deffects and if all is well, then. You've done all you can do, but I certainly wouldn't let them marry at my recognance. Tell her you love her, but you won't be part of something you do not agree with.

okay, my grandmother had married her cousin and no kind of birth defects happen to any of their 7 children one of which is my mom. they were happily married for over 30 years. Alot of you need to grow up and stop letting society rule your lives.If someone is attracted to someone so what.Who cares who it is. Love should be the only thing that matters.Im so disappointed that we live in a world such of big children.

I thought you could marry your second cousin. Didn't some president do that? They had kids and they're kids were fine.
But that is gross.
Honestly, just be a friend and pretend they aren't related. She needs your support. That's what friends do, they support each other.

I believe that deformities occur if they were first cousins,
However, I am not an expert on this topic, so to be sure of
your theory, i advise you to go to a doctor who can tell you
the real facts about genes. If your friend is too hardheaded
let her be, and just hope and pray that they will have healthy

Don't she your friend she should've listened to you when you said that it bothers you marring her 2nd cousin , if she wants to mess up her life by doing that then let her. Honey,,,there is nothing you can do that will discourage your friend. She has made up her mind....... Actually marrying your 2nd cousin is not as risky for the babies as you might think. It is when you marry your actual cousin that that problem could happen but even then it is doubtful.....
