you and baby wil be fine, you will be given IV antibiotics during delivery. Group B strep is common, about 30% of al mothers test positive. Its not an STD, its not your fault. At somepoint you got a strep infection, and it was group B, which can stay dormant in the body. As long as you are given the antibiotics during labor and delivery you will have no risk.!!

I tested positive also....it really is no biggie as long as the Doctor is aware of it. They give you an IV Drip of Antibiotics while you are in labor so that the bacteria does not pass to the baby. Just make sure you let them know when you are entering the hospital to deliver, this is not something that you want overlooked. God's Blessings for a happy and healthy baby.

Don't worry, listen to your doc, he kows what he's talking about. Group beta strep is a baceteria that our bodies produce naturally. It is NOT a std so don't worry. You and your baby will be treated with antibiotics. Every pregnant women gets tested for it in the third trimester. As long as it's treated with ATB (antibiotics) you shouldn't have any worries. Good luck and congrats on the baby!

I have strep b also. Don't be worried. It is very common. My sister has had it for both her pregnancies and her babies are very healthy. Just make sure you go to the hospital as soon as your water breaks. They will give you medication to treat it so that your baby will not become infected. Strep b does nothing to us, but if left untreated during labor, it can harm your baby. There is no need to be scared, just prepared.

ok, dont worry...most adults have Group B strep. All that will happen is that, when you go into labor you will have antibiotics given to you through an IV. this will then go through your bloodstreem and into the baby's system and your baby and you will be just fine.

You'll be perfectly fine. When you go in, you'll be placed on IV antibiotics through the devliery. I've never seen anyone have to have a c-section due to this. It's not uncommon & easily treated. As long as you get the antibiotics, the baby will be fine.

I wouldn't worry. The only difference is that you will need antibiotics during labor that they will give through i.v. I think they need 4 hours worth, but check with your doctor on how quickly you need to call him after you think that you are in labor. You may need to go in a little sooner than every 5 minutes apart, but check with him.
