They sneak in all the time, even when I'm home. I spray them, make loud noises. I have tried aluimumum foil, and once out of desperatation... mouse traps. I have tried putting blankets in, but then they mess around and make a bed in there and the blankets don't cover where they lay. I don't want to spray the baby stuff with chemical, like cat a away or lemon stuff. Any ideas that work?

I am going to go through the same thing you are currently going through. I have two cats and my baby is due in early october..
I have a water bottle full of water and I am also going to be putting up stuff that I am not using (swings, play pens, etc). I hear it is bad to leave the blankets out due to the fact that the cats might use the restroom on the blankets. I dunno if it works but that was what I was going to try

We have two cats and as soon as we found out we were pregnant we locked the baby's room so they would start getting used not to be there. Now that the baby is here, they dont even try to get in there... as far as the car seat and chair, they stay in the baby's room. The pack and play is in our bedroom and the cats seemed to be interested at first and attempted to get inside, as soon as they did it, I locked them outside of the bedroom... didnt even bother to try again.

we have 5 cats and honestly we do not mind if they are in there when the baby is not, now that everything has his smell on it they don;t go in anyways. We keep them out of his room so there is no danger that they will be in his crib and we never leave them alone with him. As for the hair, with 5 cats he is going to get used to it, we just clean it out before he gets put in the furniture. As for the stroller they like to sleep in it so we let them, and the car seat. As long as they are not peeing in them I have no problem with it at all.

I am assuming, hopefully correctly, that you had your baby?

keep the baby stuff in a closet when not in use, or confine hte cats to another part of the house. Or get a lint roller and clean the cat hair off before you put the baby in. If the baby does not have allergies then the cats hair will not bother him, but it may bother you!!

I could never keep my cats out of anything. We just shut the door to that room ,or put them in a closet when not needed.

This will get me a thumbs down, but call the humane society to come pick them up. Cats carry fungi like tinnea corpis, which is ringworms. There is alot of bacteria in their paws. My ex husband is a veterinarian and cats mouths are so dirty ( not like a dog whose mouth is actually clean) that cats get abcesses from bite wounds recieved in fights. Cat scratch Fever is a legitimate disease that can be picked up from their paws and is similar to Fifth's disease which is harmful to an infant. Just be safe so they can't pass something on to your baby.

Cat's have been known to suffocate sleeping infants in their beds. Besides that, you don't want your baby to develop allergies to pet dander. If you can't keep you cats away from the baby and it's things, you may consider putting them in a pet carrier when you can't watch them or even put them outside. I know it may sound harsh, but it's not meant to be. I love animals, but wouldn't want to risk my babies health over them.

If you have a cat, then it really shouldn't bother you?? I know it wouldn't bother me.

From my experience, cats won't listen, no matter what. Good luck!
