Since its summer, take him to the park. Bring some equipment, soccer ball, some ball you can play catch with. I am sure he has a bike, maybe bike around. If you can't go outside, or take him somewhere, and have to stay inside, I would recommend that you guys hang out in the backyard at least, make up a game to play. Like a relay race. Since its hot out, maybe water balloon fight?

Find out in advance what he's interested in. Board games are good, sorry etc. You could help him write a play, very short. Three little acts and the put it on for his parents. Sometimes, just tossing or kicking a ball is fun. Just enjoy and you'll do fine.

Bring a ball and go outside and play catch or something. Or walk to the park and let him play. Physical activity is good. You could also bring paints or something and make something together. Or you could even call him in advance and ask him if there is anything special he would like to do.

I would say it depends on the kid, if he likes to run around take him outside and play some sort of sports, and if not then maybe cards, or board games. remember you can always ask him what he wants to do other than tv.

play board games or catch outside. Since it's summer you could have a water balloon or squirt gun fight.
