Like back in the old days. I think it would do some good.

Unruly kids and teenagers are not such a problem in countries where corporate punishment is allowed in schools. I believe it is good for society as a whole, BUT it is bad for the individual (when used to excess, it can make them live based on fear rather than rationality), so there needs to be a balance.

To answer your question, I think corporate punishment should be used in schools but only in extreme cases, like when a student pulls a stunt that would warrant a suspension these days. Not for having incomplete homework or minor infractions though.

No. Punishment is a useful tool in training kids how to live in a group, but just automatic 'whupping' is stupid. Fit the punishment to the kid, and offer the carrot as well as the stick. Sadly, it doesn't look like anything that sensible is going to happen, given the idiocy of parents and school administrators these days.

definitely not. there are better ways to disciplining children both at school and at home.
