How many think the paddle or leather strap, should be used freely as needed on inmates to keep order in the prisons.
Also available in the court system for adults, teens and preteens.
I feel it would keep inmates in line, and deter rape and child molesters. Also would deter preteen and teen crime.

I agree the Paddle and Strap should be used to whip the Child Molesters to Death.

And who would be the ones to administer these "spankings" to adults- many of whom have committed murder, rape, sodomy, arson, and other violent crimes? Certainly not the guards or wardens at such places- they aren't trained for such things, and anyway, many of the inmates that they must work with are taller and stronger than they are. Have you ever tried administering a "spanking" to a 300 pound, 6 foot 5 man who's madder than hell at you and is just as likely to kill you as he is to let you get near him? This is what you would be asking the guards and wardens, not to mention the prison administrators, to do. Hitting people does NOT solve problems or prevent them from committing crimes. Violence solves NOTHING- it only begets more violence.

Using a paddle or strap ( or a cat of nine tails, like they used to use in the British and American Navies) is considered to be cruel and unusual punishment under our Constitution- and with good reason. It does nothing at all to stop crime, and is useless on adults, because all it does is make people hate their attackers. As for teens and preteens, most of our public schools have long since banned or outlawed corporal punishment. Paddles DON'T work- kids will just re-offend at a later date, and it only makes some of them more determined to cause problems. And using a strap on terror suspects is going to do nothing to deter them from participating in such activities.

Child molesters and rapists are going to commit crimes no matter what kind of punishments are used. In their case, it isn't so much about sexual prowess as it is about power- rape and sexual crimes are power trips for the person committing them. They get their biggest thrill from dominating and subjugating their victims- and NO amount of whippings or spankings is going to deter that. This is a nice thought, but it's totally impractical to enforce or implement, and it is considered to be cruelty in most places, so I would imagine that it's not going to become a common thing anytime soon.

It's funny to me how people think it's okay to spank their kids, but God forbid we use physical punishments on inmates and/or terrorists.
