Man this is a tough one!!!..Marvin Gaye had the baddest stage presence!! Smokey wrote for half of the greatest songs to ever come out of detroit,including some of Marvin hits!!!..Both were great singers,but the only reason I'm gonna pick Smokey is because of he put out more work than marvin did at Motown!! dang,but marvin is out of sight too!! but smokey is the star i believe

Smokey. He was the brain child of berry gordy and analyzed music like nobody else. When he sat in recording sessions he would take notice on what words and notes the singer sang best, and wrote songs around that. imagine that, a customized song written for you by smokey.He was the heir-apparent to Jackie wilson. he didnt really have to sing to get the ladies either. his speaking voice was so pimpish. Plus he wrote roughly 4000 songs, while remaining vice president of motown and maintaining his relationship with his family and fatherhood. and you want to talk about the Star of Motown? He named his children Berry (after founder Berry Gordy) and Tamla (Motowns 1st name before it changed).
